IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM KEVIN MCCORMICK
REGARDING EQUITY SHOWCASE THEATRE

As most of you are aware, EQUITY SHOWCASE THEATRE was forced to close its doors in March, a sad time indeed for those who treasured this much loved and historic landmark of an organization within the TORONTO ARTS COMMUNITY.

Artists from across CANADA have arrived to join TORONTO ARTISTS to explore their PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT at and through EST FOR NEARLY 50 YEARS.

The grass roots of process based exploration in an environment of inspiration, nurturing and creative expression lied at the roots of this organization. Pioneered in mid 1960's by TORONTO THEATRE ARTISTS at a time when the Theatre Scene in Canada was yet to be even fully developed and only a few short years after the arrival of the CANADA COUNCIL.

A desire to protect the pioneering spirit of the work laid out and accomplished by our EST Ancestor's, combined with a desire to save EST for the Artists who treasured it and those of generations to come who may need it , led me to create THE ARTISTIC ADVISORY GROUP of ADVOCATES to SAVE and PROTECT EST. Of which I was elected Chair by a group of talented artists that include: TEDDE MOORE, DAVID SMUKLER, PETER VAN WART, ZOE CARTER and JUDITH DA SILVA: we proceeded to set out to save the situation as best we could, just days after the shut down.

7 WEEKS and countless meetings later, with a tremendous amount of support form the BOARD of DIRECTORS and the ARTS COMMUNITY, we have arrived at a place from which to rebuild and in that we can say that EST is indeed not lost.

Any and all help is needed to keep the organization on solid ground. Support in the form of volunteers for events, taking the classes, spreading the word we are still here, presenting fundraisers on our behalf, attending our fundraising events, discounting rental space for our classes are all among the many ways you can help us . . .

Help spread the word and forward this email on to your address books....
