Arthur Miller was one of the most prominent writers in the history of American Theatre and winner of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. Some of his works include; Death of a Salesman, The Crucible and An Enemy of the People. Rod Ceballos, a talented and passionate director, won rave reviews for his production of Miller's "After the Fall" (a previous EST Showcase Production) and brings with him a wealth of knowledge on the works of Miller. A special Project not to be missed - Limited enrolment! This exciting workshop has an extensive time period of classes, and a great Training & Performance Day experience as well as feedback session. - Three Pieces for Your Pocket with Tedde Moore - The Chinese symbol for luck is two figures on top of each other: Opportunity and Preparation. Every actor should have audition pieces they can do at the drop of a hat, pieces you love and are confident doing no matter what or when. Do you have your classical or Shakespearean or Canadian piece in hand? "Out of the selection of acting coaches in Toronto I sought out Ms Moore for her outstanding approach to Shakespeare in my audition for the Stratford Festival (I am writing this in my second season). Her attention to detail and understanding of dramatic text continues to contribute greatly to my ability to perform classical theatre professionally." - former student. Dates for the next session of this class have not yet been set, but pre-registration has begun on the EST website.
- Congratulations to Brenda Bazinet for the successful Chekhov Experience Workshop that was presented at the Historic Quaker House in the Annex in July. Look for this event coming again at EST: course description and pre-registration option now available online on the EST website.
- The Shakespeare Conservatory with Andrew Tidmarsh from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London England, will be returning to EST in 2010! - Coming in 2010: EST is pleased to announce: Cinema AND Acting, a Seminar Experience for Film Makers and Actors with Leon Marr, Internationally recognized for his acclaimed feature film, Dancing In The Dark, which was the Official Selection at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Toronto Festival of Festivals, New York, and twenty other festivals around the world; as well as the winner of three Genie Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay. Find more about this exciting event under PDP Courses & Training: Special Events. Pre-registration for this course has begun online!
“An excellent perspective, rarely taught, and not understood by most actors. I got so much out of this course, I took it twice! An invaluable insight. Highly recommended.” - Norma Dell'Agnese, Dora Award Winner “Leon has a wealth of information about the language of film. It is a passion for him. History of cinematic language is generally not included in actor training. Leon's course fills that gap. It is vital and stimulating for the actor to be film literate. Best recommendation I can give is "when is the course because I want to take it.” – Rosemary Dunsmore, Actra and Dora Award winner.
- The acclaimed Classical Theatre Lab Fall Session #2 (the last Lab session of 2009) has sold out, but a pre-registration has been listed on the EST website for the New Year. Dates and further information for this class starting in January will be posted when available.
