The EST Artists' Rendezvous
A Fiftieth Anniversary Event
Kevin McCormick, Director of the Professional Development Program and David
Macniven, President of the Board of Directors are pleased to announce the EST
Artists' Rendezvous: a new initiative, in honor of Equity Showcase Theatre's
Fiftieth Anniversary.
This new program reflects our desire to provide a sense of home and a sense of
place for artists:
- to connect artists to their professional community
- to create an atmosphere of higher learning
- to create mentorship opportunities for artists
- to inspire artists to new levels of awareness and creativity
- and to create partnerships with our colleagues involved in arts leadership
both in Toronto and beyond
Our Inaugural Artists' Rendezvous which took place on October 3, 2010 at the
Theatre Centre on Queen Street West in Toronto, where we presented an evening
with international artist Yoshi Oida. This event was presented in
partnership with Why Not Theatre and the Canadian Opera Company.
We are also proud to present as part of the new Artists' Rendezvous initiative a
special program called Conversations From The Greenroom with the talented and
highly regarded Canadian director, actor and educator David Ferry, which we will
launch at the historic Arts and Letters Club (14 Elm Street, Toronto) in 2011.
Special guest artists participating in the initial Conversations From The
Greenroom program will be award winning actor Seana McKenna, veteran star of the
Stratford Festival, and other award winning nationally and internationally
acclaimed actors R.H.Thompson, and Rosemary Dunsmore.
Also we will be presenting as part of the EST Artists' Rendezvous an actors
forum in the winter 2011 at historic Hart House at the University of Toronto.
Look for more EST Artists' Rendezvous coming in the near future including an
event in the spring of 2011 where we partner with Canadian Stage to bring two
international guest artists to Toronto as part of the annual Canadian Stage
Festival of Arts and Creativity. Guest artists from Poland and Paris will
participate in this event (announcements will be made soon: EST is pleased to
share that the Canada Council has just announced that EST and Canadian Stage are
joint recipients of a grant to aid in the participation of these two
international artists in the 2011 Festival of Arts and Creativity.)
Below is a list of the upcoming Rendezvous.
