WELCOME TO THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMOF EQUITY SHOWCASE THEATREMessage from the Director - Kevin McCormick...Welcome to the Professional Development Program of Equity Showcase Theatre. EST is proud to present one of the finest faculties in Canada for the professional development of Canadian Artists. In 2010, Equity Showcase proudly celebrates its 50th Anniversary in offering artists professional development through training and performance opportunities. Our faculty both past and present and our alumni reads like a ‘whose-who’ of Canadian Theatre. Check out on the main menu under Faculty and About Us to see some of the artists who have been and are connected to EST. Over the years EST has been acclaimed for its contribution to the development of Canadian Artists through its many Showcases and for many these Showcases represented a turning point in the careers of the artists involved. We are dedicated to serving the professional theatre artists who are members of Canadian Actors Equity Association and to those from the Professional Emerging Artists category who one day will be. EST offers a variety of training opportunities delivered to you though a variety of artistic vehicles including The International Guest Artists Series, Master Classes with highly regarded artists, The Unique Artist Project, The Classical Theatre Lab, Technique Workshops for the maintenance and development of your instrument and our Partnership Projects. Winter 2010 will mark our venture into a new program called The National Outreach Program for CAEA members as we take our Creative Team to locations across Canada to serve the professional community and their creative nourishment. We will be partnering with Theatre Ontario to help us serve the Ontario Provincial mandate with a venture to Ottawa coming soon. The Board of Directors is most pleased to announce that Equity Showcase Theatre will be returning to the Performance Showcase Mandate in 2010 to celebrate its 50th Anniversary. The Board of Directors will be making an announcement about this soon. All of us at EST are very grateful for the ongoing support from Canadian Actors Equity Association who helps to provide funding to help subsidize a portion of their member’s tuition fees for workshops that they take at EST. We are also pleased and very grateful for the continued support for this non-profit organization that comes from the private sector via our Canada Helps ongoing Campaign. As Director of the PDP and Chair of the Advocates to Save and Protect Equity Showcase Theatre - I am particularly grateful to our Board President David Macniven, our Vice President Judith DaSilva, Zoe Carter of Zomagë Productions and Jennifer Robertson of Aurelia Media Designs. I appreciate all they have given in time, love and expertise to see to it that EST is revived, renewed and secure within it's roots within the theatre community. We are dedicated to delivering to you the artists the best possible opportunities to enrich your art form and your body, mind and spirit. We represent and serve Theatre Artists who believe in the power of the theatre to enrich the world around us. As Director of the PDP I welcome your comments, feedback and suggestions for programs that will serve your needs and help us to continue to deliver excellence in Professional Development, and you can contact me here. I look forward to seeing you at Equity Showcase. Kevin McCormick
