Art Walks

Equity Showcase is pleased to announce, Art Walks. As part of our advocacy initiatives, including: " You Need An Artist"; "Gotta Love Toronto, A City of Artists" and our, "Thank An Artist" Campaign", we are celebrating our great city with a series of suggested Art Walks.

Our Artistic Director, Kevin McCormick and Siavash Kazemian, President of the EST board, have been hiking around the city the last number of weeks by foot and on bike, discovering and photographing some special public art pieces, gallery windows and architectural gems. We will be introducing them by area and hope you enjoy them, either at home viewing the pictures and videos or as part of a walk on your own.

Originally we had wanted to organize group meet-ups for the walks but due to Covid 19 restrictions, we decided that for now, we would simply share the destinations with the hope you will discover on your own. Toronto truly is a wonderful city, rich in public art, some really cool architecture and many hidden gems.

Also if you have discoveries you'd like to share regarding some great public Art please let us know so we can share as part of this initiative.

Our first Art Walk takes you to Harbourfront Centre at Queens Quay West and Simcoe St.

Art Walk #2: Redpath Building to Sun Life Financial Building along Queen's Quay

Ryerson University at Gould and Yonge St. This outdoor art exhibit was wonderful. The City needs more wonderful initiatives like this.

Coronation Park (Prince's Gates at the CNE entrance)

Check out the UHPC project at Hotel X (just past the gates).

It's incredible and breathtaking. Architect, Steven Beites is responsible for the remarkable design which commemorates the Battle of York (War of 1812).

Check out Google maps for the walk to and from your location and remember to follow all the Covid 19 health advice.

Remember, one has nothing without one's health so stay healthy and take care of yourself and thus each other. Be on the lookout for some delicious take-out and hot drinks in the area. #supportlocal
